PoetrySpeaks.com accounts are intended for individual and personal use – for uploading poetry to the site, commenting on or rating poetry submissions, and purchasing poetry or poetry-related products.

We have created the following community guidelines to help make your experience the best and safest experience. Your use of PoetrySpeaks.com and your membership within this community are subject to these guidelines as well as our Terms of Use.

How to enjoy the site:

Be involved
Poetry matters. We have created this community to bring together people who feel the same way about poetry as we do. Be involved, share your voice, express your thoughts, and be an active member of this community.

Be supportive
We’re a community made up of all types of people from all over the country and all over the world. These people are sharing their innermost feelings, dreams, and inspirations with you, so please be respectful and polite when interacting with other members.

Upload content you have created
Copyright is important to us and it’s important to our poets. Please follow copyright laws and only upload content that you yourself have created and own.

Be honest
When uploading content including photos, video, and audio files, do not create misleading tags, descriptions, or thumbnails in order to gain attention.

Be your own moderator
We ask that if you come across content that is offensive, please report it to This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it , and we will make the decision on whether or not to pull it down.

Enjoy
The goal and purpose behind PoetrySpeaks.com is to create a space where poetry can be discovered and rediscovered. We have hundreds of poems available from some of the most sought-after poets for you to enjoy, so get started already! Share your poetry with the community and tell other members what you think of their contributions and art. Explore, discover, and live poetry – that’s what this community is all about.

The No-No’s:

If it’s not yours, don’t upload it
This includes other people’s poetry, photos, videos, audio files, etc. Accounts that consist of this material may be terminated at any time.

If it’s illegal or prohibited, don’t upload it
If we find you are uploading illegal or prohibited content, we will terminate your account and report you to the authorities.

Impersonations, Cyberbullying, Spamming, Harassment
Just don’t do it. We’ll delete your account if you do.

Nudity, violence, abuse, illegal activities, pornography – we don’t want to see it
If we find the photos or video files you’ve uploaded contain the content listed above, we’ll send you a warning asking you to remove and replace this content. If we find you’ve done it again, we’ll terminate your account. Period. Use common sense when posting images or videos.

This site is for poetry and conversations about poetry – not a site for commercial purposes
If you have not signed a contract with Sourcebooks to sell your poetry and related products, we don’t want you selling products, services, yourself or others through your PoetrySpeaks.com account. Your account will be subject to termination if you do so. If you have questions about the commercial usage of PoetrySpeaks.com, please contact us.
