Description Octavia Spencer is the director, writer and producer of the short poetry film The Captain. Octavia uses the poem Invictus by William Ernest Henley to show children of all ages they have the keys to their fate and the power to overcome any obstacle.
Octavia states: "The hero of my film, a teen with Down's Syndrome, perseveres when those around him lack faith in his abilities. With a game winning goal he proclaims: "I am the master of my fate: I am the captain of my soul." This is how all children, no matter what race, religion, or disability, should view the world and their role in it."
