Description Competing in a field of ninety-six entries, The Captain was one of six films selected for the Reel Poetry program of the Chicago International Children's Film Festival in which students first write and then perform poems before seeing films based on those poems. The Captain was especially resonant for Chicago students, given the film's basketball setting, making for a relatable experience to the classic William Ernest Henley poem, "Invictus." The Captain is directed by Octavia Spencer and narrated by Allison Janney.
